| Additional Notes | Serrated edge blades and flakes occur throuought the Mesolithic and are capable of cutting a variety of materials. Frome (Frome, 1976) has noted their usual size range at 90mm to 30mm. This small example would still have been a useful tool, for cutting sinew perhaps. Similar examples have been recorded at Malham Tarn (Williams et al,1987) and T.C. Laurie has noted the occasional ocurrence of serrations on flint flakes in collections from Barningham High Moor sites (Coggins et al, 1990) |
